Scripture Lesson: Titus 2:11-14

 

 

He Will Be Called

Wonderful Counselor

Week #1

 

 

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6

 

pele' (peh'-leh) - wonder, marvel, extraordinary, hard to understand

 

ya`ats (yaw-ats') - to advise, consult, give counsel, devise, plan

 

Jesus - “A Wonder of a Counselor”

 

  1. Wonderful in the plan that he devised.

 

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” - Genesis 3:15

 

But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. - Galatians 4:4,5

 

 

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” - Luke 19:10

 

“The Kingdom of God is beyond grasp, reason, and experience...it must be grasped only by faith...We BELIEVE life, glory, righteousness, and peace but on the contrary FEEL death, shame, sin, and trouble.”

 

  1. Wonderful in the plan that he accomplished.

 

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.- Romans 5:6-8

 

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love  he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace. - Ephesians 1:3-7

 

Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.  I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” - Luke 5:31-32

 

  1. Wonderful in the counsel that he gives.

 

Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. - Psalm 55:22

Listen up!

 

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” - Matthew 7:24-27
