Scripture Lesson: Psalm 24

Return to Sender

It All Belongs to Him

Week #1

  1. Everything is God’s property.

“Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. – Matthew 25:14

  1. We are entrusted, not entitled.

To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag,  each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. 18 But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money. – Matthew 25:15-18

  1. Faithfulness with little leads to greater trust.

“Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’ Matthew 24:24-25

“The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’ – Matthew 24:22

The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’                  – Matthew 24:20

Points to Ponder

  1. Does everything I have belong to God?

  2. How does recognizing that everything I possess - my time, talents, and resources - ultimately belongs to God change the way I approach life and stewardship?

  1. In what ways can I live more intentionally with what He has entrusted to me?

  1. Am I a steward or an owner?

  1. How can I shift my mindset from feeling entitled to my possessions to understanding that I am entrusted with them?

  1. Am I faithfully using what God has given me for His purposes, or am I holding onto it out of fear or selfishness?

  1. How does faithfulness in small things impact my future opportunities?

  1. Am I being faithful with the little things, even when no one is watching?

  1. How does my faithfulness in small responsibilities prepare me for greater trust and opportunities to serve God?
