Scripture Lesson: 1 Chronicles 29:10-20

Return to Sender

Investing in What Lasts

Week #3

  1. Use God’s gifts for His kingdom.

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.  Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.                               – 1 Timothy 6:17-18

  1. Store treasures in heaven, not earth.

In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. – 1 Timothy 6:19

  1. Every gift is ultimately “return to sender.”

Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, which some have professed and in so doing have departed from the faith. – 1 Timothy 6:20-21

Points to Ponder

  1. Am I using God’s gifts for His kingdom or my own?

  1. How do I view the resources, talents, and blessings God has given me?

  1. Am I using them to serve His purposes and further His kingdom, or am I holding onto them for personal gain or security?

  1. Where am I storing my treasures—on earth or in heaven?

  1. How do I prioritize my time, money, and energy?

  1. Am I focusing on accumulating earthly wealth, or am I investing in eternal treasures that align with God’s will and will last forever?

  1. Am I faithfully guarding and stewarding the gifts entrusted to me?

  1. How well am I managing the spiritual gifts, knowledge, and opportunities God has given me?

  1. Am I allowing distractions or false teachings to mislead me, or am I remaining faithful to what has been entrusted to my care?
